Applications for the 2015 EnPleinAirTEXAS event will be accepted until May 10, 2015 !


 All artists, regardless of whether they are selected as a Competition Artist or not, are eligible and invited to compete in the 2 hour QUICK DRAW Competition, held on Saturday, October 31st.  Find out more under the QUICK DRAW Paint-Out section of the website coming soon.  Register online in July for a $10 fee to compete for $2450 in Cash Prizes.



*Attend Artists’ ORIENTATION and WELCOME RECEPTION at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts on the afternoon of Sunday, October 25th, unless you arrange for Late Registration on Monday, October 26th.



*Paint daily, preferably in the advertised venues, and interact with the public to increase their interest and the possibility of sales.  Several artist lunches & events are planned for public interaction in the daily venues, and we ask for your support in attending those.  Artist meals at all events are complimentary.



*Submit 2 completed, framed and ready to be hung artworks between 8:30a.m. and 11:00a.m. on Friday October 30, for the awards competition with a maximum canvas size of 20” x 24". All work must be completed on an EnPleinAirTEXAS stamped canvas, and produced en plein air, without the assistance of photography.



*Agree to price work within artist’ normal retail pricing structure, and understand that a 40% commission on all works sold will be retained by the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts.  All sales will be handled by representatives of the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts.



*Provide up to 8 additional plein air paintings, framed and ready to be hung artworks that are produced during the week of the event (or from home) to replace competition paintings as they are sold during the weekend.



*Attend the Collectors’ Soiree from 5:30 to 8:30pm on Friday, October 30, to celebrate a great week of painting and reconnect with people met during the week, as well as meet potential new collectors,



*Participate in the 2 hour Quick-Draw Paint-Out on Saturday, October 31,



*Attend the 'Chuck Wagon Breakfast with the Artists' at Ft. Concho on Sunday, November 1 and spend some time afterwards in the Competition Gallery to network and encourage final sales,



*Pick up any work that does not sell by 2:00pm Sunday, November 1 or make prior arrangements for shipment,



*Agree that selling any work produced from one week prior to one week after the competition, or any work commissioned as a result of participation in EnPleinAirTEXAS will also require a 40% commission to be paid to the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, 


*Allow the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts to use images of work of the Competition Artists for publicity purposes.





  • Host family homes will be offered to all competition artists beginning on Friday, October 23. Artists are encouraged to arrive early to get to know the area and be inspired! 

  • All events involving competition artists are free to the artists; attendance gives the artist another opportunity to engage with an admiring public.

  • There will be many opportunities for artists to engage enthusiasts through personal talks and demonstrations in local galleries or venues, as well as visit local schools. Artists are encouraged to connect with the community through these opportunities as they become available.
