New in 2026, two Fellowship spots are open to any plein air artist in the world!
They will join two past EnPleinAirTEXAS Artists and the four will be selected to spend 3 weeks on historic ranches in West Texas for the 2026 EnPleinAirTEXAS (EPAT) Ranch Fellowship.  The Fellowship Artists will return to San Angelo Oct. 20 - 26 for 5 days of events, engagement, teaching, and sales.

The 2025 EPAT Ranch Fellowship Artists will paint on two iconic West Texas ranches this September for their 3-week experience and return in October.  See below for a sneak peek at the ranches!  The 2025 events page on this website will offer a taste of what to expect in 2026.

The inaugural 2024 EPAT Ranch Fellowship was, to quote the artists, ‘ground-breaking’, ‘my most fun plein air experience ever’, ‘an irreplaceable experience’, and ‘the highlight of my year!’.  Suzie Baker, Liz Bonham, Carla Bosch, and Katie Dobson-Cundiff had successful sales and some very productive painting time.

      2026 Fellowship Opportunities and Expectations:

  • The Fellowship emphasizes the plein air experience and encourages artistic growth and creativity.
  • The selected Ranch Fellows live and paint for three weeks on a private ranch, with access to other nearby ranches.  Spouse/significant other is welcome.
  • A $1,000 stipend is provided to help with travel, food, and other expenses.
  • Participants share daily ranch life with a fellow artist (separate bedrooms and bathrooms), working individually on their art or exploring new ideas together. Working ‘en plein air’ is the idea, but there are no ‘traditional plein air’ rules.
  • Artists will donate one ranch painting to their fellowship host.
  • Artists must deliver their completed works to the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts at the close of the 3 week Fellowship, in preparation for a major exhibit at the museum.
  • A second $1000 stipend will be provided to Artist Fellows to return to San Angelo Oct. 20 – 26th, for an exhibition at the museum and community engagement.
  • Fellowship Artists will share their talents and give back to the community with a day of art engagement for local high school students.
  • Fellowship Artists will be the headliners at the 2026 Texas Artists Camp REVIVAL, celebrating the history of the 1920’s Texas Artists Camp.
  • Events will be similar to those this year in 2025, but keep returning as we fine-tune and tweak for 2026 to make it even better!

Applications for the 2026 EnPleinAirTEXAS Ranch Fellowship Are Now CLOSED.
Thank you to all of our talented applicants!
